- What is print on demand?
-
In the traditional book industry, books are printed in bulk in order to get the lowest cost. This way of production led to inventory that built up and unsold overstock that had to be destroyed.
Print On Demand (POD) uses new digital print techniques that meet the quality of traditional print techniques and makes it possible to print one copy at a time. UniBook will print on demand each book as it is sold. The extra cost of digital printing is compensated by the costs that UniBook.com is no longer required to pass on : prefinancing, stock, over stock etc. This explains why UniBook books can be put on sale with a price in line with the market. Also, the print on demand model is much more environmentally friendly.
